An Actor’s Inspiration is an endeavour which interprets in an Indian milieu two of the greatest films of all times - The Godfather & Raging Bull - through the medium of still photography.

The Godfather has been interpreted from the point of view of the character of Michael Corleone which was brilliantly portrayed by Al Pacino while Raging Bull has been interpreted from the point of view of the character of Jake La Motta which was beautifully brought to life by Robert De Niro. This way not only has tribute been paid to the iconic actors and the films but also cinema has been interpreted onto a page.

To achieve truthfulness in photographs the scenes have been shot in the format of a film with actors performing live for the still camera. Real locations have been used for authenticity. Subsequently, the photographs have been laid out in the form of a story-board to tell the story. The film’s shooting script has been placed alongside the photographs to make the connect as well as draw a parallel. As such, throughout the book there are two narratives - one, the character’s journey through the film’s shooting script and the other, interpretation of the character and the film from the author’s viewpoint in an Indian milieu through photographs and written commentary.

The book has been conceptualised, interpreted and directed by Bikramjeet Singh Saluja and photographed by Ronny Sequeira and Hardeep Sachdev.

The foreword has been written by none other than Indian screen legend Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

The copyright holders of the films - Paramount Pictures (The Godfather) and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, MGM (Raging Bull) - have duly authorised the book for a private distribution.
